A late Victorian Cameo brooch featuring a wonderfully detailed Victorian scene carved into shell, this is of a girl with a horse at a drinking trough/well. This cameo shows the incredible prowess of the cameo carvers of the time. The detailing is well executed down to the bricks in the wall and the plume in the hat of the gentleman peeking over the wall!
A large and lovely cameo brooch for the vintage jewellery enthusiast! A great gift for that hard to buy for woman...or perhaps for yourself!
The frame is made from 9 carat gold and the cameo is in good condition for its age with one small hairline crack in a corner. It would date to the turn of the century, from the United Kingdom.
The brooch measures 8 cms across and is 10 cms in length.
