A tiny treasure of an Art Deco brooch. This is a small bust of Nefertiti the Egyptian Queen that is perfectly executed in colour and simplicity of design. The pale blue and pale green colours are worthy of an artist's palette! The brooch dates to circa 1925.
The discovery of Tutenkamen's tomb prompted a great interest in all things Egyptian and led to the Egyptian revival movement. Architecture, jewellery, hairstyles and fashion all reflected this obsession and gave it an Art Deco style all of its own.
Enamel and marcasite brooches were rarer than plain marcasite and often were so beautiful. Like this one...Give it as a truly unique and special Art Deco gift; or keep it for yourself! Either way, it will give lots of joy to its wearer!
The brooch measures 2.5 cms long and 1.5 cms in width.
Dated Circa 1930, in excellent condition.
