An wonderful silver Art Nouveau buckle. The buckle is beautifully made from continental silver, mabe pearls and blue enamel. Set with a large oval mabe pearl in the centre, and another to each side, along with wonderful oxidised silver, it is a work of art in generous swooping curves and delicate floral patterns. There is one small section of enamel missing; otherwise the condition is excellent.
It is Russian marked with the eagle and the makers stamp. It is dated at circa1908, and would have graced the waist of an elegant Edwardian lady.
As a piece of jewellery in today's world it has a few different possibilities, a buckle, or a large pendant with ribbon or a chain looped through its swirls.
As a collector's item, this antique buckle is awe inspiringly opulent. It must have been its maker's pride and joy, much thought and many hours going into its design and construction!
