Pretty as a picture, this is a Silver and Enamel worked dainty fringe brooch that is truly a pleasure to study.
Marius Hammer was a very well known and well respected Norweigen jewellery and silversmith. He was known for his attention to detail and fine enamelling, where the enamel is so carefully and well made that it resembles cabochon cut stones.
Here the enamelling and the delicate mesh of the bar brooch form to create a pretty design of sweet texture and interesting hues.
Marius operated out of Bergen in Norway from 1847-1927 and was a contemporary of Faberge. His timeless jewels are a lot more affordable today! Although just as beautiful some would say.
This brooch looks sweet and striking on a dress or a shirt, or just sitting somewhere where you can admire it!
It is marked with the Marius Hammer marks and a silver stamp.
The brooch is three centimetres across and from the top to the bottom of the enamelled drop, it is four centimetres. It is marked with the Marius Hammer hallmarks.
