The Arts & Crafts Movement in England during the turn of the century saw a return to simpler designs with a focus on semi precious stones, this came after the previous era's extravagant Victorian jewels! The stones utilised during this time were not necessarily precious and the designs were plainer although often very pretty too!
This necklace is a wonderful piece of jewellery from this time- the design and filigreed construction of the open work pendant style is beautifully executed and shows off the cabochon cut pale pink quartz stone that is at its centre piece perfectly. A stylised Tudor rose with smaller roses worked into the filigree; this pendant would make one lucky woman very happy!
This is a really lovely jewel, the back of the pendant shows off the wonderful silver filigree work along with the time and effort this jeweller went to in order to make this charming and pretty petal of a jewel!
It is in excellent condition for its age.
The necklace is quite short- 42 cms in total and the pendant measures 4 cms in diameter with the little drop on the bottom measuring another 1 cm. The necklace is marked with a Sterling Silver stamp on the clasp.
