A beautiful antique Victorian Locket featuring enamel work in a champleve style. It is Austro-Hungarian, dated circa 1880.
It is an intricate form of enamelling and design, not set in gold, but silver gilt. It has a distinctive look, highly decorative, and, like this locket, where the colours and form are still wonderfully bright and new looking today.
This locket would be a very special gift for a very special woman. In excellent condition for its age, the hinge works perfectly. Not bad for over a hundred years old! It could be worn on either a gold or a silver chain for a different contrasting look. It is patterned equally beautifully on both sides indicating a good quality piece of jewellery.
The locket is 3 cms long and 2.2 cms wide.
