This is a lovely sterling silver Art Nouveau necklace.
Each segment is an open worked disk of sterling silver art nouveau art, adjoining the next by two chains. It is the swirls and motifs of each alternate link that are so decorative and pretty. It is English in origin and marked on each alternate disk with a Chester hallmark and a B, making it identifiable as a piece that was made in Chester, England in 1902. There are further makers marks on the catch, signifying which company made the piece.
It makes an unusual neck adornment, I can see it on an Art Nouveau lady, hair piled up high and a floaty dress on, then again I can see it on you! It's a piece of history that could be worn casually during the day, or dressed up for a night out.
The necklace measures 44 cms long.
